its development projects. This
was of great importance during
the construction of the third
stage of the pipeline between
Limón and La Garita of Alajuela
where
prevention,
education
and improvement of related
works (such as construction of
sidewalks and spout) was planned
in
partnership
with
public
institutions (such as municipalities
and national entities: SETENA,
MINAET,
MOPT),
private
companies (including TECHINT
Consortium
and
Arco),
the
communal sector, development
associations and schools.
With regards to Pipeline Safety, a
community outreach project was
developed to divulge prevention
and emergency plans associated
with the pipeline. The talks were
handled by the Department
of Health, Environment and
Safety. A detailed explanation
of security, emergency and
signaling
protocols
was
presented. This effort has been
led since the year 2009 by the
Distribution Management, with
the support of the Department of
Communication.
Environmental activities have
benefited from public-private
partnerships, such as the actions
accomplished by the municipality
of Goicoechera, Hotel Radison,
ULACIT and RECOPE; volunteer
groups collected road debris and
trash on the route that connects
San José and Limón (route 32).
It is important tomention thework
coordinated with the Ministerio
de Salud of the Barranca area,
aimed at eradicating dengue
transmitting
mosquitoes.
Company staff was trained in the
comprehensive
management
of the vector. Intensive field
work took place and inspections
were carried out every 15 days.
In the last three years, the
Barranca campus in Puntarenas
