testing and measuring methods. This
involved creating new document
versions and/or new documents in full,
and uploading them to the company’s
document management system.
Metrology
The company purchased new metrology
equipment (for $300 thousand) to
measure different orders of magnitude
more accurately.
Quality Assurance
RECOPE purchased $866,6-thousand
worth of new laboratory equipment for its
Department of Quality Assurance in the
Pacific Central Region and Moín.
The QA Laboratory in El Alto was
remodeled, and numerous repairs were
made to the furniture, the installations,
and the reagent storage sites in Moín.
Several training courses on the Quality
and Business Management Systems
were provided, as part of the company’s
continuous professional development
efforts.
1. A training course was provided
to the Department of Metrology,
in collaboration with the National
University, on the different
orders of magnitude of the
electrical variables. Similarly, an
internationally renowned expert in
liquid hydrocarbon measurements
was contracted through the Training
Department, to train the personnel
in the calibration of the measuring
equipment used in the LPG in-line
mixing system.
2. Likewise, the operator of the
QA Department’s octane-rating
machine was trained to provide
maintenance to the equipment. This
allowed RECOPE to bring down
maintenance costs considerably,
since it no longer needs to pay
to bring personnel directly from
Mexico to maintain the equipment.
3. In accordance with the 2016-2021
Strategic Plan, 10 employees
involved in document management
activities, and that in the future
will be required to perform their
obligations within the framework of
the INTE/ISO 9001:2015 standard,
received training on the specifics
of said standard. Furthermore, four
additional employees were trained
on the specifics of: the INTE/OHSAS
18001:2009 - Safety Management
Systems standard; the INTE/
ISO 14001:2015 - Environmental
Management Systems standard;
and the internal audit procedures
thereof.
Third Party Agreements
An air quality monitoring booth was
constructed as part of the collaboration
agreement between the National
University (UNA as per its Spanish
acronym) and RECOPE. The booth is
equipped with all the machines and
devices required to determine the
level of contaminants released into the
atmosphere during the combustion
of hydrocarbon fuels. The booth was
incorporated into the national air quality
monitoring network.
